Say Yes to New Hanover Schools

New Hanover students deserve safe, modern classrooms. Voting yes on the school bond invests in safety, growth, and opportunity for every child.

A row of modern, brick and glass school buildings with a freshly renovated facade, expansive windows, and a prominent, well-maintained sign reading “New Hanover County Schools.” The buildings are surrounded by clean sidewalks, young trees, and neatly lined bike racks, with school buses parked in an orderly line along the curb. Soft late afternoon sunlight casts long, gentle shadows, highlighting the textures of brick, metal, and glass. Photographic realism with a professional, civic tone, shot at eye-level with a wide lens to capture the full campus, sharp focus throughout. The mood is hopeful, forward-looking, and orderly, suggesting a community investing in its educational future without showing any people.
A detailed close-up of an architect’s table displaying large, rolled-out blueprints labeled “New Hanover County School Bond – 2028 Plan” beside a sleek metal ruler, sharpened pencils, and color-coded sticky notes marking classroom wings, science labs, and media centers. The table surface is a light maple wood, illuminated by soft, focused overhead studio lighting that creates subtle highlights on the paper and metal tools. Background elements fade into a gentle blur: neatly stacked proposal binders and a laptop with a muted screen. Photographic realism with a clean, professional aesthetic, shot from a slightly elevated angle, emphasizing precision, planning, and responsible use of the $320 million bond.

About

Yes for New Hanover’s Schools is a grassroots coalition of parents, business leaders, and neighbors working to pass the $320.5 million school bond this November so every school in the county is safer and stronger.

Why This Bond Matters

Many of our schools are decades old, with safety, space, and maintenance problems our kids and teachers face every day. This bond rebuilds, repairs, and replaces schools across the county. Every student will benefit, not just a few. And it’s a smart deal: if it passes, private funding will contribute up to $116 million towards the County’s debt which lowers our overall tax burden.

A bright, expansive high school media center interior with rows of modern light-wood shelving, neatly arranged books, and a central area of collaborative tables with built-in outlets. Large windows line one wall, allowing diffused morning light to flood in, casting soft, natural shadows across the carpeted floor. A digital display on the far wall shows the phrase “Investing in New Hanover’s Future” in bold, clean typography. Photographic realism, captured at eye level with a wide-angle lens, sharp focus emphasizing depth and space. The composition uses the rule of thirds, creating a calm, aspirational mood that highlights what upgraded facilities funded by the school bond can look like, all without any people present.

Voices

Hope D.

“My daughter’s school is older than I am. This bond fixes the real problems: major safety concerns, crowded classrooms, doors that don’t lock right. I want her learning in a building that’s safe, not falling apart.”

Hope D.

“I don’t vote for every tax increase. This one’s different. For about five dollars a month, we rebuild schools across the county and bring in $116 million in money. That’s a smart deal.”

Hope D.

“Trask Middle has served families for generations, but it’s worn out. My son deserves a school built for today. And this bond doesn’t stop at one building. Nearly every school in the county gets better.”

Hope D.

“My boys are still in elementary school. By the time they reach high school, I want those buildings ready for them. Voting yes now means they grow up in schools we’re proud of.”
